Is there any connection between Satan and images?
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Talha (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture."
(Sharh Sahih Muslim by An-Nawawi, 6/8)
Some scholars and hadith experts have explained that this refers to images that have a shadow, meaning statues or depictions of humans, animals, or any living being. It is well known that angels and devils cannot coexist in the same place. If angels do not enter a house due to the presence of images, then Satan will establish his presence there.
From this, it is understood that there is a deep connection between Satan and images since images become a cause for Satan's arrival.
If there are small children in the house, and dolls are made or brought for their play, there is no harm in this. The reason is that such dolls are not honored but rather disregarded, as children play with them, throw them around, and do not treat them with reverence. However, placing dolls or images in the home as decorations, without a valid reason, is not permissible.
