✿ Question
Is the name “Laibah” of any Hoor in Paradise proven from the Hadith?
✿ Answer
No name by the word “Laibah” is authentically proven in any book of Hadith for a Hoor of Paradise.
❀ The Fabricated Narration Mentioning “Lu'bah”
However, in one fabricated narration, the name “Luʿbah” appears for a Hoor. The details of this narration are as follows:
❀ Text of the Fabricated Narration
Narrated from Sayyiduna ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿud (RA):
(Reference: Ṣifat al-Jannah by Ibn Abī al-Dunyā, p. 298)
Translation:
“In Paradise, there is a Hoor named Luʿbah. All the Hoors of Paradise admire her, striking her on the shoulder and saying: O Luʿbah! How splendid you are! If only your seekers knew [your reality], they would strive intensely to attain you. Written between her eyes is: ‘Whoever wishes to have someone like me must act according to the pleasure of my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.’”
❀ Criticism on the Chain of Narration
This narration is fabricated (baatil) due to the following weaknesses in its chain:
✔ ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿUbaydullāh:
His biographical details are unknown. He is classified as majhool al-haal (unknown condition).
✔ Mūsā ibn Ḥuṣayn:
Also majhool (unknown). There is no reliable authentication of this narrator by Hadith scholars.
✔ Ḥassān ibn ʿAṭiyyah did not hear directly from ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿūd (RA):
There is no established direct transmission (samaaʿ) between them, which breaks the chain of narration.
❀ Conclusion
✔ The name “Laibah” is not proven in any authentic Hadith as a name for a Hoor in Paradise.
✔ The above-mentioned narration that mentions “Luʿbah” is weak and fabricated, and therefore, unreliable.
✔ The names of the Hoors of Paradise have not been detailed in the Qur’an or in authentic Hadith.
✔ Any name attributed without a sound chain of narration cannot be trusted or accepted as part of authentic Islamic teachings.
✦ In Summary:
There is no authentic evidence for a Hoor named Laibah in Paradise. Any such claim is unsubstantiated and must be rejected in light of established Hadith principles.
