Abū Umāmah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are five nights in which duʿāʾ is not rejected:
① The first night of Rajab,
② The night of mid-Shaʿbān,
③ The night of Jumuʿah (Friday night),
④ The night of ʿĪd al-Fiṭr, and
⑤ The night of ʿĪd al-Aḍḥā.”

Is this ḥadīth authentic?
The above narration attributed to Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī رضي الله عنه is found in:
Ibn ʿAsākir narrates it with the chain:
Bandār ibn ʿAmr ibn Aḥmad Abū Saʿīd al-Rūyānī → Ibrāhīm ibn Abī Yaḥyā → Abū Qaʿnab → Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī
who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Five nights in which duʿāʾ is not rejected...”
There are three major flaws in its chain:

Shaykh al-Albānī رحمه الله graded this ḥadīth as fabricated (موضوع).

❖ Ruling on Authenticity:

① Bandār ibn ʿAmr al-Rūyānī is a liar (كذاب)
- Ibn ʿAsākir reports from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz:
"Do not narrate from him, for he is a liar."

② Ibrāhīm ibn Abī Yaḥyā is also a known liar (كذاب)
- Declared a liar by:
- Imām Mālik
- Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd
- Ibn Maʿīn, and others
- Kitāb al-Ḍuʿafāʾ wal-Matrūkīn (1/51)
- Kitāb al-Majrūḥīn by Ibn Ḥibbān (1/105)
- Ibn Ḥajar رحمه الله says: “He is Matrūk (abandoned).”

③ Abū Qaʿnab is Majhūl (unknown)
