Is Smoking Ḥuqqa Permissible? Sharʿī Ruling and Detailed Explanation in Light of Fatāwā Mubārakpūrī

Question:​


Is smoking ḥuqqa (hookah) considered makrūh (disliked) or ḥarām (forbidden)?


Answer:​


Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!


Smoking ḥuqqa is impermissible (nā-jāʾiz), unlawful (ghayr mubāḥ), and an incorrect practice.
❀ This act is not permissible in Sharīʿah.
❀ Due to the harmful effects and detrimental consequences of smoking ḥuqqa, this practice is considered close to ḥarām.
