Is It Permissible to Skip Fasting Due to Hard Work?
Source: Fatawa Arkan-e-Islam
If a person’s work is extremely labor-intensive and fasting becomes difficult for him, is he permitted to skip the fast? What is your opinion regarding this matter?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh. Ammā baʿd:
➊ In my view, it is impermissible (ḥarām) to skip fasting due to work, and it is not allowed.
➋ If a person is unable to fast because of his job, then he should take leave during Ramadan so that he may observe the fasts.
➌ This is because fasting in Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam, and neglecting it is not permissible.
