Is Prayer Valid if a Woman’s Breast Milk Touches Her Clothes?

❖ Ruling on a Woman’s Milk Touching Clothes and Its Impact on Prayer

Source: Fatawa Ameenpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Ameenpuri

❖ Question:

If a woman’s breast milk touches her clothes, what is the ruling regarding offering ṣalāh (prayer) in those clothes?

❖ Answer:

A woman’s milk is pure (ṭāhir).
If it comes into contact with clothing, the prayer in such clothing is completely valid — whether the woman is a maḥram (close relative) or non-maḥram.

❖ Scholarly Consensus:

Imām Ibn al-ʿArabī رحمه الله (d. 543 AH) stated:

"لبن بني آدم، ولبن كل حيوان يؤكل لحمه طاهر باتفاق."
"The milk of human beings, as well as the milk of all animals whose meat is permissible to eat, is pure — and this is by consensus."
(Al-Masālik fī Sharḥ Muwaṭṭaʾ Mālik: 2/72)

✔ Summary:

✅ Human milk is pure.
✅ No need to wash or change the garment if breast milk touches it.
✅ Prayer in such clothes is valid, with no effect on its correctness.
