Performing Hajj Along with Umrah: Is It Permissible in Shariah?
Source: Aḥkām wa Masā’il – Masā’il of Ḥajj and ʿUmrah, Vol. 1, p. 291
❖ Question
A person sets out with the intention of performing ʿUmrah, but along with ʿUmrah also performs Ḥajj. Is this correct according to Sharīʿah?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
If a person sets out solely with the intention of ʿUmrah, and later performs Ḥajj along with ʿUmrah, then this act is absolutely valid. There is no prohibition in the Sharīʿah preventing someone who goes for ʿUmrah from also performing Ḥajj.
Therefore, if someone intends ʿUmrah and then also performs Ḥajj, this is permissible according to the Sharīʿah.
