❀ Ruling on Market Meat: Is Meat from Pakistani Butchers Ḥalāl? ❀

What is the status of meat sold in the market — is it ḥalāl or ḥarām? For instance, most butchers in Pakistan are entirely negligent regarding prayer and religion, and their beliefs are often severely flawed. Does their slaughter fall under the category of that performed by a polytheist (mushrik)?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
It is ḥalāl, because the slaughter of Ahl al-Kitāb (People of the Book) is considered ḥalāl, and it is well-known that Ahl al-Kitāb were also disbelievers and polytheists. Pakistani butchers are, in any case, better than the People of the Book, and they also recite the Kalimah.
However, there is a condition: at the time of slaughter, they must say "Bismillāh, Allāhu Akbar" and must not slaughter in the name of anyone other than Allāh.
Allāh the Exalted has said:
﴿وَلَا تَأۡكُلُواْ مِمَّا لَمۡ يُذۡكَرِ ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡهِ﴾
Al-Anʿām: 121
“And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allāh has not been mentioned.”
