What is the ruling on marrying the offspring of a paternal half-sister (ʿalātī sister)?
Marrying the children of a paternal half-sister is just as prohibited as marrying the children of a full sister.
وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأُخْتِ
“And the daughters of your sisters (are forbidden to you in marriage).”
Sūrah al-Nisāʾ: 23
This includes the daughters of:
① Full sisters (ḥaqīqī)
② Paternal half-sisters (ʿalātī)
③ Maternal half-sisters (akhiyāfī)
The descendants of all these sisters are also encompassed in the prohibition.
Therefore, it is not permissible to marry the granddaughter of a paternal half-sister (ʿalātī behan).
☞ A paternal half-sister's offspring are maḥram, and marriage with them is strictly prohibited in Islam — including her daughters and granddaughters.
