❖ Question:
What is the ruling on kissing one's wife while in the state of fasting?
❖ Answer:
It is permissible.
❀ Sayyidah ʿĀʾishah رضي الله عنها narrated:
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ، وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ
“The Prophet ﷺ would kiss and physically interact (touch) with his wives while he was fasting, but he had the strongest control over his desires among you.”
Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 1106
Summary:
① Kissing and light physical interaction with one's wife while fasting is permissible.
② However, one must have self-control and avoid anything that could lead to invalidating the fast.
