Is It Permissible to Demonstrate the Authentic Prophetic Way of Performing Salah?

🟢 Hadith of ʿAbbās ibn Sahl رضي الله عنه

Hadith:
عن عباس بن سهل (بن سعد) قال: اجتمع أبو حميد، وأبو أسيد، وسهل بن سعد ، ومحمد بن مسلمة؛ فذكروا صلاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، فقال أبو حميد: ((أنا أعلمكم بصلاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم [إذا] ركع فوضع يديه على ركبتيه، كأنه قابض عليهما ووتر يديه فنجاهما عن جنبيه))

ʿAbbās ibn Sahl رضي الله عنه narrated:
“Abu Humayd, Abu Usaid, Sahl ibn Saʿd, and Muhammad ibn Maslamah gathered and discussed the Salah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Humayd said,
‘I know more about the Prophet’s ﷺ prayer than all of you. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed (in rukū‘), he placed his hands on his knees as though he were grasping them and distanced his arms from his sides.’
This Hadith has been declared Ṣaḥīḥ by Imām al-Tirmidhī.

❖ Key Benefits and Rulings​

Demonstrating the correct Prophetic method of Salah practically is permissible in Shari‘ah.

➋ If someone knows that no one else in the gathering is more knowledgeable than him on a specific matter, it is permissible to say so without arrogance.

➌ Sitting and discussing Islamic matters among companions, just as the Companions رضي الله عنهم did, is a commendable and reformative practice.

➍ During rukū‘, both hands should be placed firmly on the knees, as though gripping them.

➎ While in rukū‘, the arms should be kept away from the sides, knees firmly held, and fingers spread apart.
