Is it permissible in Islam for a husband to have his wife remove his pubic hair, and for the husband to remove his wife’s pubic hair, especially when both do so with mutual consent and happiness?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh. Ammā baʿd!
In light of Islamic teachings, there is no explicit prohibition regarding this matter. The following points clarify its permissibility:
✿ Spouses are permitted to see each other’s entire body.
✿ They are allowed to derive physical benefits from each other.
✿ Since looking at each other’s private parts is permissible, performing acts such as removing pubic hair for one another also becomes permissible.
✿ There is no Shar‘i evidence that declares this act forbidden or sinful.
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
﴿هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُم وَأَنتُم لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّ﴾
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:187)
“They (your wives) are a garment for you, and you are a garment for them.”
✿ This verse emphasizes the intimacy, closeness, and comfort spouses are meant to provide to each other, including help and care in personal matters, within the boundaries of modesty and mutual respect.
➤ Based on the above evidences and principles, it is Islamically permissible for a husband and wife to remove each other’s pubic hair, provided it is done mutually, respectfully, and with consent.
➤ There is no religious objection to such an act as it falls within the lawful bounds of marital intimacy.
