Is it permissible for a laborer to break his fast?
Question:.
I heard in the sermon of the second Friday of Ramadan that it is permissible for a laborer who has to endure a lot of hard work due to his job to break his fast, and that he cannot do any other work besides this. He can give food to a poor person for each day of Ramadan, the value of which they stated to be fifteen dirhams. Is there any valid evidence from the Quran and Sunnah for this fatwa?
Fatwa:.
It is not permissible for a laborer to break the fast merely due to work. However, if the work causes him extreme hardship to the extent that he is compelled to break his fast during the day, then he may break his fast to alleviate that hardship, and then he should not eat or drink anything until sunset, and then he can break his fast with others and make up for that day's fast later. The fatwa you mentioned is not correct.
