Excerpt from the book: Ahkām wa Masā’il – In the Light of Qur’an and Sunnah by Shaykh Mubashir Ahmad Rabbani
Is a husband allowed to have sexual intercourse with his pregnant wife? What is the ruling according to the Qur’an and Sunnah?
It is permissible for a man to have intercourse with his pregnant wife.
Allah the Almighty says:
﴿وَنِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ﴾
“Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you.”
Sūrah al-Baqarah: 223
In another place, Allah says:
﴿وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ﴾
“And they who guard their private parts – Except from their wives or those their right hands possess...”
Sūrah al-Mu’minūn: 5–6
These verses clearly establish that intercourse with one’s wife is generally permissible. Any prohibition would only apply if a specific evidence (dalīl) exists to restrict it.
Since there is no such evidence prohibiting intercourse during pregnancy, it remains permissible.
✔ A husband is allowed to have intercourse with his pregnant wife.
✔ There is no prohibition in the Qur’an or Sunnah against it.
✔ Intercourse is only prohibited in the cases of menstruation, postnatal bleeding, or anal intercourse, due to clear evidences of prohibition.

Like menstruation, intercourse is not allowed during this time either.
Conclusion:
✔ A husband is allowed to have intercourse with his pregnant wife.
