❓ Question:

Is it a Sunnah to host a gathering or feast for friends and relatives upon returning from Ḥajj or ʿUmrah?

✅ Answer:

Yes, hosting a feast after returning from Ḥajj or ʿUmrah is considered Mustaḥabb (recommended).

🕋 Sayyidunā Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh رضي الله عنه narrates:

“When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to Madinah from (the journey of Ḥajj), he arranged a feast for the people by sacrificing either a camel or a cow — the narrator is unsure.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Kitāb al-Jihād wa as-Siyar: Bāb aṭ-Ṭaʿām ʿinda al-Qudūm, ḥadīth 3089]

✿ Ruling:

It is not an obligation (farḍ),
✔ But it is Sunnah and encouraged,
✔ As it reflects gratitude, sharing joy, and reviving prophetic tradition.
