Is a Joint Walimah for Multiple Weddings Permissible in Islam?

Source: Fatāwā Muḥammadiyyah, Vol. 1, p. 721

❖ Question:

One brother's nikah takes place in the morning, while the other two brothers' nikah takes place at night.
Is it permissible to hold a joint walimah for all three the next day?

❖ Answer:

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!

There is no known incident from the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or the Companions رضي الله عنهم where three nikahs occurred together or where a joint walimah was held for multiple weddings on the same day.

However, the purpose of walimah is to announce and publicize the nikah.
Just as this purpose is fulfilled by individual walimahs, it can also be fulfilled through a combined walimah.

Hence, such a practice is permissible.

✦ Supporting Evidence:

Hadith:
«ماَ سَكَتَ عَنْهُ فَهُوَ عَفْوٌ»

(Narrated by Abū Dāwūd; Mishkāt, p. 362)

Translation:
"Whatever the Sharīʿah has remained silent about, it is pardoned (i.e., permissible)."

✅ Conclusion:

It is permissible to hold a joint walimah for all three brothers.
