❖ Shar‘i Status of “Dhahab Muqatta‘” for Men & Explanation of the Hadith ❖

Disregarding the research of Shaykh Nasir al-Din al-Albani, what is the explanation of the Hadith:
{نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا}
(Abu Dawood, al-Nasa’i, Musnad Ahmad, etc.)
This Hadith appears to permit “Muqatta‘ gold” (i.e., gold in small or segmented form) — and the wording is absolute (mutlaq), so doesn't this suggest that even for men it may be allowed?
الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام علىٰ رسول الله، أما بعد:
The Hadith:
{نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا}
Translation:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited wearing gold except in a segmented (muqatta‘) form.”
This wording clearly indicates that the prohibition and exception are directed toward those who are generally permitted to wear gold — i.e., women.
Whereas for men, wearing gold in any form — solid or segmented — is entirely impermissible.
Hence, this Hadith does not serve as a basis for allowing men to wear “muqatta‘” gold.
This conclusion is also supported by the research of Shaykh al-Albani (حفظه الله). You are advised to study his book:
"آداب الزفاف" (The Etiquettes of Marriage)
This book clarifies many such questions and objections in detail, إن شاء الله.
هٰذَا مَا عِندِي وَاللّٰهُ أَعْلَمُ بِالصَّوَابِ
This is what I know; and Allah knows best what is correct.
