What is the Sharʿī ruling for someone performing ʿUmrah by entering into iḥrām from Masjid ʿĀ’ishah (Taneem) or Jaʿrānah?

❖ Ruling in Light of Aḥādīth
◈ According to authentic aḥādīth, Sayyidah ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها entered iḥrām from Tanʿīm due to a specific situation (i.e., she was in a state of ḥayḍ during Hajj and could not perform ʿUmrah with the others).
◈ The Prophet ﷺ then instructed her to go to Tanʿīm, enter into iḥrām, and perform ʿUmrah, which she did.

❖ For Men: Is ʿUmrah from Tanʿīm or Jaʿrānah Permissible?
◈ According to Salafī scholars, it is not recommended for men to initiate ʿUmrah from Tanʿīm or Jaʿrānah without a valid reason, because no explicit textual evidence supports this practice for general use.
◈ The preferred and more correct method is to enter iḥrām from one of the designated Mīqāt points or at least from outside the boundaries of Ḥaram (Aqrab ilā al-Ḥill).
❖ Scholarly Disagreement
◈ There is ikhtilāf (scholarly difference of opinion) on this issue.
◈ Some scholars permit ʿUmrah from Tanʿīm or Jaʿrānah for convenience,

❖ The View on Entering Iḥrām from Hotels in Makkah
◈ In recent times, some have claimed that one may enter iḥrām directly from one’s hotel in Makkah for a new ʿUmrah.
◈ However, this does not have a sound Sharʿī basis and is considered an unsound and irregular opinion.
Conclusion
✔ Women in special circumstances (such as menstruation) may perform ʿUmrah from Tanʿīm or Jaʿrānah, as shown by the practice of Sayyidah ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها.
✔ Men, however, should not perform ʿUmrah from these locations without necessity.
✔ The best and most Sharʿī-compliant method is to enter iḥrām from the Mīqāt or just outside the Ḥaram boundary.
✔ Despite scholarly differences, caution and adherence to stronger evidence is encouraged—especially by Salafī scholars.
