If the husband engages in intercourse with his wife during her menstruation, he must give half a dinar in charity as an expiation.
Question:
If a woman is menstruating and her husband insists on having intercourse with her (and intercourse occurs), what is the ruling for both the man and the woman? Will the ruling differ if the woman consents to the act compared to if she was coerced into it?Answer:
It is haram (forbidden) for a husband to have intercourse with his menstruating wife. However, it is permissible for him to enjoy other parts of her body, provided that a cloth is wrapped around her waist to avoid contact with the private area.If the husband engages in intercourse with his wife during her menstruation, he must give half a dinar in charity as an expiation.
- If the woman consents to this act, she is also obligated to give half a dinar in charity as expiation.
