Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Get Stung by a Scorpion?
Answer:
Yes, indeed.
It is narrated from Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Once, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was performing prayer, and when he went into prostration, a scorpion stung him on his finger. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ completed the prayer by saying salaam, he said:
«لعن الله العقرب، ما تدع نبيا ولا غيره قال: ثم دعا بإناء فيه ماء وملح، فجعل يضع موضع اللدغة فى الماء والملح ويقرأ قل هو الله أحد والمعوذتين حتي سكنت »
“May Allah curse the scorpion! It does not leave a prophet nor anyone else.” Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then the Prophet ﷺ called for a vessel containing water and salt. He placed the stung part in the water and salt, and he continued reciting ‘Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad’ and the Mu’awwidhatayn until the pain subsided.”
