Fatāwā ʿIlmiyyah, Volume 1, Kitāb al-Ṣalāh, Page 312

❖ Question:

What is the reality behind the statement:
“Contrary to this, in nearly all mosques the pauses (saktāt) are nominal – except what Allah wills.”
— (Attributed to Masʿūd Aḥmad Ṣāḥib)

❖ Answer:

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:

❖ Practical Implementation of Pauses (Saktāt) in Mosques:

We affirm and uphold the pauses (saktāt) that are proven from the Sharīʿah, and we also strive to implement them in mosques to the best of our ability.

Our position is not merely theoretical, but practically demonstrated and adhered to in our prayer leadership and mosque practices.

❖ About Masʿūd Aḥmad Ṣāḥib and the Related Discussion:

Masʿūd Aḥmad (BSc), was known for his Kharijite and Takfīrī leanings.

The undersigned had a direct scholarly dialogue with him in Islamabad, at the house of his son.

During this discussion — by the grace of Allah — Masʿūd Aḥmad Ṣāḥib was rendered speechless and withdrew from the debate.

Subsequently, the cell he had established in Hazro was completely dismantled.

His followers revoked their allegiance (bayʿah) to him and joined the Ahl al-Ḥadīth congregation.

All praise is due to Allah.

❖ Recommended Refutations of Masʿūd Aḥmad’s Ideology:

For those seeking a detailed academic rebuttal to Masʿūd Aḥmad and his deviant ideology, the following books are essential reading:
