✦ Method of Wearing Ihram for Air Travelers to Makkah ✦

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام علىٰ رسول الله، أما بعد!
Whoever is traveling to Makkah via airplane, it is obligatory upon him to wear Ihram before reaching the Miqat. The following points must be taken into consideration in this regard:
✿ The traveler should prepare for Ihram in advance.
✿ He should perform Ghusl (ritual bath) before leaving his home.
✿ He should choose a suitable time before or during the flight so that Ihram is worn before reaching the Miqat.
✿ Upon reaching the Miqat, he should make the intention for Hajj or ʿUmrah.
✿ Never delay the Miqat, as airplanes travel at high speed and can cross several miles within a single minute.
✿ Many people show negligence at this important stage and fail to prepare for Ihram in advance.
✿ When the airline crew announces that the Miqat is approaching, people begin changing clothes and wearing Ihram at that very moment, which is a serious shortcoming.
✿ According to reports, the airline crew generally announces 15 minutes before reaching the Miqat.
✿ This is a commendable step, as it provides passengers with enough time to change into their Ihram garments and get ready.
✿ The person intending to wear Ihram must stay alert and attentive to the time.
✿ As soon as the airline crew announces that they are 15 minutes away from Miqat, the traveler should:
◈ Keep checking the time on his watch.
◈ After 15 minutes have passed, or even 2 to 3 minutes earlier, he should start reciting the Talbiyah (لَبَّيْكَ) according to his intention (Hajj or ʿUmrah).
