I am a patient, I did not keep some fasts of Ramadan, what is the expiation?

This excerpt is taken from the book of Fadhilat al-Shaykh Mubashir Ahmad Rabbani, may Allah have mercy on him, Ahkam and Masail of Ramadan.

I am a sick woman, I did not keep some fasts in Ramadan, what is the expiation?

Question:.

I am a married sick woman. I missed some fasts last Ramadan and due to my illness, I cannot make them up. What will be the expiation for them? Similarly, this year I will also not be able to keep the fasts of Ramadan. What will be the expiation for them?

Fatwa:.

A patient for whom fasting is difficult is not obligated to fast. When Allah grants him recovery, he should make up for the fasts that he missed. Thus, Allah, the Exalted, says:
وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
Reference: (Al-Baqarah: 185)

"And whoever among you is ill or on a journey, then a number of other days."
Therefore, O questioner! There is no hardship upon you for not fasting, and during this month, as long as the illness persists, there is no harm in skipping the fast. Because skipping the fast is a concession from Allah for the sick and the traveler, and Allah, the Exalted, loves that His concessions be accepted, just as He dislikes disobedience to Him.
You have no expiation. But when Allah grants you relief from the illness, then making up for the missed fasts becomes obligatory. May Allah grant you healing from every illness and remove our and your ailments.
