◈ Question​

If a mobile phone falls into something impure and there is a risk of it getting damaged by washing, how can it be purified?

◈ Islamic Principle of Removing Impurity​

Islam emphasizes removing impurity, and Allah ﷻ has granted human beings the intellect and means to handle such matters with wisdom.


✔ It is not necessary to immerse an item fully in water to purify it.
✔ Flexibility is allowed, especially when dealing with sensitive items like electronics.

◈ Recommended Method for Purifying a Mobile Phone​

① Using a Damp Cloth or Foam:​

• Lightly moisten a clean cloth or a foam pad so it’s damp but not dripping.
• Wipe the affected area of the mobile phone once or twice carefully.
• This action is sufficient to remove the impurity, in shā’ Allāh.

② Using Sunlight and Air:​

• For additional reassurance, place the mobile phone in sunlight and allow it to air out.
• Sun, air, and natural drying agents are also recognized in Sharī‘ah as means of purification, especially when direct washing is not feasible.

◈ Summary​

✔ It is not required to soak the phone in water.
✔ A damp cloth or foam is sufficient for removing visible impurity.
✔ Sunlight and air can assist in completing the process.
✔ This method is safe and complies with Shari‘ah guidelines without risking damage to your device.
