Does Satan present deeds in a beautified form?
Allah the Exalted says:
تَاللَّـهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ [النحل: 63]
Translation:
By Allah! We certainly sent messengers to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds appear pleasing to them. So he is their ally today, and for them is a painful punishment.
[An-Naḥl: 63]
In this noble verse, Allah ﷻ affirms that even in the past, when He sent messengers to former nations, they rejected those messengers, and Satan beautified their actions in their eyes, deceiving them into thinking their path was correct.
So, O Muḥammad ﷺ, do not grieve over the rejection of your people, for the previous messengers also faced denial. Their lives serve as an example for you.
The reason the polytheists rejected the messengers was due to the influence of Satan.
The accursed Satan made their misdeeds appear beautiful and commendable in their own sight.
فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ الْيَوْمَ — “So he is their ally today”
Meaning, today they face punishment, and Satan is their companion, but he cannot save them, nor is there anyone to come to their aid.
They are destined for a painful punishment.
✔ Yes, Satan deceives people by presenting evil and misguided deeds as adorned and attractive, leading them away from truth.
✔ This tactic has long been a means by which disbelievers and polytheists were led astray, rejecting divine guidance and messengers.
✔ The companionship of Satan in this world brings only destruction and torment in the Hereafter, with no escape or helper.
