◈ Freedom of a Slave Woman as Mahr:
It is also proven that the Prophet ﷺ gave freedom from slavery as Mahr.
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ emancipated Ṣafiyyah, and made her emancipation her Mahr.”
Conclusion:
- The standard Mahr the Prophet ﷺ gave was 500 dirhams.
- In specific cases, such as with Ṣafiyyah رضي الله عنها, her freedom was considered her Mahr.
- This demonstrates flexibility in what can constitute Mahr in Islam.
