Ruling on the Number of Times to Recite the Du‘a “Subhānaka Allāhumma Rabbana wa Bihamdik...” in Rukū‘ and Sujūd
Based on: Fatawa of the Scholars of Hadith, Kitab al-Salah, Vol. 1

❖ Question

How many times should the blessed Du‘a of the Prophet ﷺ —
"سُبْحَانَكَ اللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ، اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي"
be recited in Rukū‘ or Sujūd?

❖ Answer

There is no specific verse or Hadith that strictly limits or determines the number of times this Du‘a should be recited in Rukū‘ or Sujūd.

❖ Practical Ruling

✔ This Du‘a may be recited with humility and sincerity, as many times as one is able to, depending on:
➤ The concentration of the worshipper
➤ The time available
➤ The length of the prayer

It is not bound to a fixed count like three or five. Rather, the focus should be on presence of heart and sincerity in invoking Allah ﷻ.

❖ Supporting References

Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Adhān, Chapter: Supplication in Rukū‘
Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Salat, Chapter: What is to be said in Rukū‘

These references affirm the general practice of supplicating in Rukū‘ and Sujūd but do not restrict the number of repetitions.

❖ Summary

✔ There is no fixed number for reciting the Du‘a "سُبْحَانَكَ اللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ، اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي" in Rukū‘ or Sujūd.
✔ The Du‘a may be repeated as much as one desires, based on sincerity and devotion.
✔ The goal is spiritual focus, not numeric limitation.
