❀ Guidance and Duʿās for Women Waiting for Marriage ❀
Source:
This article is derived from the book “500 Questions and Answers for Women” based on the fatwas of the scholars of the Haramain, translated by Hafiz Abdullah Saleem.
❖ Question:
I wish to ask about a matter that affects me and many women like me. Allah ﷻ has decreed for us to remain unmarried, and now we find ourselves at the threshold of despair, having passed the usual age of marriage.Despite being, al-ḥamdulillāh, women of good character and having completed our university-level education, this seems to be our fate.
One of the reasons is financial, which discourages men from marrying us, especially given that in our country, marital responsibilities often depend on shared economic contributions.
Please provide advice and guidance for me and other women in a similar situation.
❖ Answer:
To the sister who remains unmarried, and to other women in similar circumstances, my sincere advice is:✔ Turn earnestly to Allah ﷻ in humility and desperation, sincerely imploring Him to grant you marriage with a man of good religion and character—a man whom Allah loves and is pleased with.
❖ The Power of Sincere Duʿā:
When a person turns to Allah with:- A sincere heart,
- Proper etiquette of supplication,
- While avoiding obstacles to its acceptance,
﴿وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ﴾
[Surah Al-Baqarah: 186]
“And when My servants ask you about Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me.”
And Allah also says:
﴿وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ﴾
[Surah Ghāfir: 60]
“And your Lord says: Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”
When a servant turns to Allah with faith and certainty, Allah will honor their supplication with acceptance.
There is nothing more powerful than sincere focus toward Allah, humility, and hope for goodness.
❖ Words of the Prophet ﷺ:
The Prophet ﷺ said:"واعلم أن النصر مع الصبر، وأن الفرج مع الكرب، وأن مع العسر يسرا"
[Narrated by Aḥmad 1/307]
“Know that victory comes with patience, relief comes with affliction, and ease comes with hardship.”
❖ Final Supplication:
I supplicate to Allah ﷻ for you and for every woman in similar conditions:That He ease your hardship,
And provide righteous husbands—men who will choose you for the sake of both religious and worldly benefit.
And Allah knows best.
