❖ The Seriousness of Lying Upon Allah and His Messenger ﷺ

⚠ Warning from the Qur'an

"And on the Day of Resurrection, you will see those who lied against Allah — their faces blackened."

Forms of Lying Upon Allah

◈ Anyone who claims that Allah said something He never said, or interprets His speech in a way that deviates from its actual meaning, is guilty of lying upon Allah.
◈ Attributing fabricated Hadiths to the Prophet ﷺ also constitutes lying against Allah, since the Prophet ﷺ was sent by Him.

❖ The Warning Against Lying Upon the Prophet ﷺ

"Whoever intentionally lies upon me, let him prepare his abode in Hell."
(Al-Bukhari, Al-‘Ilm: 108; Muslim: 2)

"Lying upon me is not like lying upon anyone else. Whoever deliberately lies upon me, let him prepare his place in Hell."
(Al-Bukhari, Al-Jana'iz: 1291; Muslim: 4)

"In the latter days, there will be Dajjals and liars who will narrate to you Hadiths which neither you nor your forefathers have heard. Stay away from them so that they do not lead you astray and plunge you into fitnah."
(Muqaddimah Sahih Muslim: 16)

This prophecy has been fulfilled. Particularly, the Sufis included fabricated Hadiths in their books to justify their ideologies, beliefs, and innovations in worship. In the Indian subcontinent, books written in Urdu on Tafsir, Fiqh, and virtues of deeds frequently contain weak or fabricated narrations.

◈ Hadiths were fabricated to support shirk.
◈ Narrations were invented to legitimize seeking help from the dead.
◈ Under the label of "self-purification", non-Shariah practices were introduced that have no basis in the Sunnah.

❖ Rejection of Authentic Hadiths

◈ Some rejected authentic Hadiths assuming they contradicted the Qur’an.
Examples include:
➤ The emergence of the Dajjal
➤ The descent of ʿĪsā
➤ The effect of magic on the Prophet ﷺ

◈ They dismissed these narrations, claiming they oppose the Qur’an, even though:
➤ The Qur’an cannot be properly understood without Hadith.
➤ Nor can it be correctly implemented.

❖ The Consequence of Abandoning Salah

⚠ Qur'anic Warnings

"فَخَلَفَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوَاتِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا" ﴿مريم: 59﴾
"Then there succeeded them a generation who neglected prayer and followed their desires. So they will meet destruction."

"فَإِن تَابُوا وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ"
﴿التوبہ: 11﴾
"But if they repent, establish prayer, and give zakat, then they are your brothers in religion."

"مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ ﴿٤٢﴾ قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٤٣﴾"
﴿المدثر﴾
"(What led you into Hell?) They will say: We were not among those who prayed."

⚠ Prophetic Warnings

"Indeed, between a person and shirk and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer."
(Muslim, Kitab al-Iman: 82)

"The covenant that differentiates us from the hypocrites is the prayer; whoever abandons it has disbelieved."
(Al-Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Iman: 2621)

"Whoever deliberately abandons a prescribed prayer has lost Allah’s protection."
(Ibn Majah, Kitab al-Fitan: 4034)

Abdullah bin Shaqiq رحمه الله narrated:
"The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ did not consider the abandonment of any deed as disbelief except prayer."
(Al-Tirmidhi: 2622)

❖ No Exemption from Salah

Prayer is obligatory in every condition:
➤ Whether at home or traveling
➤ Whether healthy or ill
➤ Whether in peace or war

◈ If a patient cannot stand, he should pray sitting; if unable to sit, then lying down; and perform rukūʿ and sujūd with gestures.

◈ At the time of the Prophet’s ﷺ passing, his final words included:
"Prayer, and (take care of) your slaves."
(Ibn Majah, Kitab al-Wasaya: 2698)

❖ The Consequences of Withholding Zakat

⚠ Zakat is an Obligation & A Governmental Responsibility

◈ Allah ﷻ commands the establishment of both prayer and zakat.
◈ It is the duty of the Islamic government to forcibly collect zakat when necessary.

"I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establish prayer, and give zakat. If they do so, their blood and wealth will be protected from me, except for the right of Islam, and their reckoning is with Allah."
(Al-Bukhari: 25; Muslim: 22)

⚠ Worldly & Eternal Consequences for Neglecting Zakat

Rain withheld due to non-payment of zakat:
"Whenever a nation withholds zakat, Allah withholds rain from them. Were it not for the animals, not a single drop would fall."

(Ibn Majah, Kitab al-Fitan: 4019)

Torture in the Hereafter:
"On the Day of Judgment, their wealth will be made into plates of fire, branding their sides, foreheads, and backs. This will continue for fifty thousand years until judgment is passed, and they are either sent to Paradise or Hell."

(Muslim, Kitab al-Zakat: 987)

Wealth becomes a snake:
"If someone does not give zakat, their wealth will be turned into a venomous snake, coiling around their neck, saying: I am your wealth, your treasure!"

(Al-Bukhari, Tafsir Surah Aal ‘Imran: 4565)

"وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ..." ﴿آل عمران: 180﴾
"Let not those who are miserly with what Allah has given them think it is good for them; rather, it is bad for them. They will be branded with that which they withheld on the Day of Resurrection."

❖ Combatting Those Who Refuse Zakat

➤ After the Prophet ﷺ passed away, some Arab tribes refused to give zakat.
➤ Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه decided to fight them.
➤ ʿUmar رضي الله عنه opposed initially, but Abu Bakr said:
"By Allah! I will fight the one who differentiates between prayer and zakat. Even if they used to give a young she-camel to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and now withhold it, I will fight them for it."
(Al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Zakat: 1399; Muslim, Kitab al-Iman: 20)

❖ Warning Against Abandoning Jumuʿah and Congregational Prayers

"Let people stop neglecting Jumuʿah, or else Allah will seal their hearts, and they will become heedless."
(Muslim, Kitab al-Jumuʿah: 865)

"Whoever misses three Jumuʿah prayers out of laziness, Allah will seal his heart."
(Abu Dawood, Kitab al-Jumuʿah: 1052)

"I wish to order someone to lead the prayer and then burn the houses of those who do not attend Jumuʿah without a valid excuse."
(Muslim, Kitab al-Masajid: 652)

"By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I would gather firewood, give the call to prayer, appoint someone to lead, and then burn the houses of those who do not attend the congregational prayer."
(Al-Bukhari: 644; Muslim: 651)

"Whoever hears the adhan and does not attend the prayer in the mosque without a valid excuse, his prayer is not accepted."
(Ibn Majah, Kitab al-Masajid: 793)
