Neglecting the Distinction Between Ḥalāl and Ḥarām Sources of Income

➊ This is among the prophecies of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, as mentioned in the ḥadīth:
يـاتـي على الناس زمان لا يبالي المرء ما أخذ منه أمن الحلال أم من الحرام
“There will come a time upon people when a man will not care from where he acquires (wealth) — whether from ḥalāl or from ḥarām.”
[Bukhārī: 2059, Kitāb al-Buyūʿ: Bāb man lam yubāli min ḥaythu kasaba al-māl]
➋ Ḥaḍrat Muʿādh رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
ما تزال قدما عبـد يوم القيامة حتى يسأل عن أربع: عن عمره فيم أفناه؟ وعن شبابه فيم أبلاه؟ وعن ماله من أين اكتسبه ، وفيم أنفقه؟ وعن علمه ماذا عمل فيه؟
“On the Day of Judgment, the feet of a servant will not move until he is asked regarding four things: about his life — how he spent it; about his youth — how he wore it out; about his wealth — from where he earned it and on what he spent it; and about his knowledge — what he did with it.”

➌ Ḥaḍrat Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
يا كعب بن عجرة ! إنه لا يدخل الجنة لحم نبت من سحت
“O Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah! Indeed, the flesh that has grown from ḥarām will not enter Paradise.”

➍ Ḥaḍrat Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رضي الله عنه narrates:
أن النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: لا يدخل الجنة جسد غذى بحرام
“The Prophet ﷺ said: The body nourished with ḥarām will not enter Paradise.”
