What is the warning for missing Jumuʿah (Friday Prayer) without a valid excuse?
Severe warnings have been issued for those who intentionally abandon three consecutive Jumuʿah prayers without a valid reason.
Sayyidunā Abū Jaʿd Ḍamrī رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Whoever misses three Jumuʿahs without a valid excuse is a hypocrite."
Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Khuzaymah: 1857, Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān: 258 – Chain is Ḥasan (authentic)
Sayyidunā ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما said:
"Whoever abandons three consecutive Jumuʿahs has thrown Islam behind his back."
Musnad Abī Yaʿlā: 2712 – Chain is Ḥasan (authentic)
Intentionally missing three consecutive Jumuʿahs without excuse is:
Such a person is severely warned and risks falling into major sin.
Every believing Muslim must honor the obligation of Jumuʿah unless genuinely excused (e.g. illness, travel, or other Sharʿī reasons).
