Giving Zakat to One's Mother

Fatwa by: Former Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Shaykh Ibn Baz (رحمه الله)

Question:

Can a person give zakat to their mother?

Answer:

A Muslim cannot give zakat to their parents or their children. If a person is financially capable, they must support their needy parents and children from their personal wealth rather than from zakat.
