Fatwa by: Shaykh Ibn Jibreen (حفظه الله)
Question:
A trustworthy person claims that they can deliver Zakat money to a reliable scholar who can further pass it on to the Mujahideen. Can I give my Zakat (on gold) this way, or is there a better option? It is difficult for me to find deserving recipients.
Answer:
Yes, it is permissible to give Zakat to the Mujahideen. Renowned scholars have issued fatwas supporting this, particularly because the Mujahideen are fighting against non-believers and the fiercest enemies of Islam. If a trustworthy person can deliver Zakat money to the Mujahideen or hand it over to someone who will ensure it reaches them, then giving Zakat to such a person is allowed. By doing so, the Zakat payer fulfills their obligation and will, insha'Allah, be rewarded by Allah for their action.
And Allah knows best.
