Giving Perfume as a Gift to a Woman

Is It Permissible to Gift Perfume to a Woman?

There is no harm in giving perfume as a gift to a woman, as gifting promotes love and removes malice. Moreover, the one who gives a gift earns a reward.

However, if the recipient misuses the gift in an impermissible way, such as applying perfume in a haram manner, then the sin is upon her.

When Is It Prohibited to Gift Perfume to a Woman?

🚫 If it is known that the woman will wear perfume while going out in public (such as the marketplace), then gifting her perfume is not allowed.

This is because it would be a form of assisting in sin and transgression, which is prohibited in Islam.

📖 Allah Almighty says:

«وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ»

[Al-Ma'idah: 2]

"Do not help one another in sin and transgression."

[Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen: Noor ‘Ala al-Darb, 8/247]
