Chapter: Loyalty to the Believers
«باب موالاة المؤمنين»
Allah the Exalted says:
﴿وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ...﴾
[Surah At-Tawbah: 71]
“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, establish prayer, give zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. It is they upon whom Allah will have mercy. Surely, Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.”
✿ Narrated by ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ (رضي الله عنه):
He said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say publicly and not in secret:
“O family of Abī”—ʿAmr said there was a blank space in the manuscript of Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar—“You are not my allies. My ally is Allah and the righteous believers.”
And in another narration of al-Bukhārī:
“But there is a bond of kinship, and I shall uphold it as it deserves.”
[Muttafaqun ʿAlayh: al-Bukhārī 5990, Muslim 215]
This Hadith establishes that true allegiance in Islam is based on faith and righteousness, not merely on blood ties or lineage. Believers are to build their relationships on obedience to Allah, mutual support in righteousness, and sincere brotherhood.
