Feminism and Patriarchy: Myth or Natural Social Order?

❖ Feminism: A Historical Reality or an Empty Assumption? ❖

✦ Feminism and the Assumption of Patriarchy

Feminism is founded upon the assumption that throughout human history, man has consistently exploited woman, considered her inferior, and restricted her social role. This assumption is known as Patriarchy.

If this theory is to be accepted, it logically leads to two possible outcomes, which must be examined individually:

① The Theory of a Male Conspiracy

If we accept that men conspired throughout history to suppress women, then there should be clear historical evidence of such an orchestrated effort. However:

No historical records indicate a coordinated global or local plan by men to exploit women.
❖ Even in societies where women held positions of power, no such claims are found.
❖ Across various civilizations and isolated societies, both men and women have always fulfilled distinct social roles, which were not influenced by any dominating ideology or coordinated patriarchy.

This consistency across diverse cultures and time periods suggests that the traditional roles of men and women are not the result of external oppression, but rather a natural and organic social system based on inherent differences and mutual roles.

② Unintentional Male Dominance

If it is claimed that men unintentionally suppressed women, then the natural conclusion should be that women historically felt oppressed and insecure, and would have raised their voice in protest. However:

❖ History shows that women were generally content with their roles in society.
❖ This satisfaction became the foundation of stable family systems across generations.
❖ Ironically, it is in the modern era of feminism and neoliberalism that women appear increasingly insecure, distressed, and psychologically burdened.

Thus, the idea that patriarchy inherently victimized women does not align with the lived experiences of women throughout history.

✦ Conclusion: A Misguided Framework

The above facts demonstrate that feminism is based on a hollow and flawed assumption. What is now labeled as “oppression” is, in fact, the natural dynamic of male and female social and familial roles, which women have historically embraced.

If today’s woman feels dissatisfied, the reasons lie not in ancient patriarchy, but in modern external influences, particularly socio-economic pressures, consumerism, and ideological confusion.

Hence, instead of promoting feminist narratives, the focus should shift to addressing real contemporary challenges that are the actual root of modern women's struggles.
