❖ What Is Said About the Disbelieving Jinn?

❀ Question:
What is said regarding the disbelieving jinn?
❀ Answer:
Just like humans, jinn are also mukallaf (legally responsible). The Prophethood of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ extends to them as well. Thus, the jinn are also addressed by the Shari‘ah; among them are Muslims and disbelievers. For the believing jinn, Paradise is prepared, and for the disbelieving jinn, Hell is prepared.
❀ Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله (d. 728H) said:
كفار الجن يدخلون النار بالنصوص وإجماع المسلمين
“The disbelieving jinn will enter Hell according to the textual evidences and the consensus of the Muslims.”
(Majmu‘ al-Fatawa, 13/86)
❀ Allah ﷻ says:
﴿وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ﴾
(Hud: 119)
“Your Lord’s word has been fulfilled: I will surely fill Hell with jinn and humans all together.”
❀ Allah ﷻ says:
﴿وَلَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ مِنِّي لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ﴾
(Al-Sajdah: 13)
“But My word has come into effect: I will surely fill Hell with jinn and humans all together.”
❀ Allah ﷻ says:
﴿قَالَ ادْخُلُوا فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ فِي النَّارِ﴾
(Al-A‘raf: 38)
“Allah will say: Enter the Fire along with the nations of jinn and humans who have passed away before you.”
❀ Allah ﷻ says:
﴿وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ﴾
(Al-A‘raf: 179)
“Indeed, We have created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind.”
These and many other clear verses prove that, just like humans, the disbelieving and sinful jinn will also be cast into Hell, because they too are legally responsible.
