Some Famous Urdu Naats Containing Shirk Verses and Their Correction
Compiled by: Muhammad Abdul Rahman
Islam is a pure monotheistic religion. The primary objective of the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah is that man should recognize only Allah ﷻ as the true deity, call upon Him alone, ask only from Him, and place his trust only in Him. The Noble Prophet ﷺ is the greatest Messenger of Allah and the most perfect human being, yet he was still only Allah’s servant and Messenger, not the remover of difficulties or fulfiller of needs.
Unfortunately, in the subcontinent, under the banner of Naat recitation, many poems and couplets have become popular that directly promote shirk. In these verses, the Prophet ﷺ is portrayed as the one who hears prayers, solves problems, grants sustenance, and controls benefit and harm. However, the Qur’an and Sunnah present the exact opposite. Below are some famous couplets, along with their refutation in the light of Qur’an and Hadith.
① "Bhar do jholi meri ya Muhammad ﷺ, laut kar main na jaunga khaali"

“Say, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or guidance.”
(Al-Jinn: 21)
② "Yeh sab tumhara karam hai aaqa ke baat ab tak bani hui hai"

“This is by the favor of my Lord.”
(An-Naml: 40)
③ "Ae sabz gumbad walay manzoor dua karna, jab waqt-e-naza aaye deedaar ata karna"

“And your Lord said: Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”
(Al-Mu’min: 60)

“If Allah afflicts you with harm, none can remove it except Him.”
(Al-An‘am: 17)
⑤ "Rabb ne diya hai unko, main unse maangta hoon"

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When you ask, ask Allah; and when you seek help, seek it from Allah.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2516)
⑥ "Unka mangta hoon jo mangta nahi hone dete"

“Supplication is worship.”
(Musnad Ahmad 18352)

“Call upon Me; I will respond to you… Those who are too arrogant to worship Me will enter Hell in humiliation.”
(Ghafir: 60)
⑦ "Huzoor aisa koi intizam ho jaye, salaam ke liye haazir ghulaam ho jaye"

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“O mankind! You are all in need of Allah, while Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.”
(Fatir: 15)
⑨ "Nabi mukhtaar-e-kull hai, jisko jo chahe ata karde"

“Say: I do not control benefit or harm for myself, except what Allah wills…”
(Al-A‘raf: 188)
"Tera khaawan main tere geet gaawan ya Rasul Allah"

“Say: Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?”
(Yunus: 31)
Conclusion
All these couplets are shirk-based and against the Qur’an and Sunnah. Allah ﷻ has made it clear in the Qur’an that:
✔ The one who answers supplications is only Allah.
✔ The one who grants help is only Allah.
✔ The one who provides sustenance is only Allah.
