❖ Question
Is the statement true that “Ḥūrīs in Paradise will tattoo themselves with the blackness of Bilāl (RA)”?
✦ The Response
Wa ʿalaykum al-salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh.
All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:
ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله
❖ The Reality of This Statement: A Baseless and False Claim
This statement is a complete fabrication.
There is no textual, religious, or rational basis for this claim.
Its falsity can be clearly demonstrated through two fundamental points:
➊ Tattooing Is Not a Form of Beauty
Rational people understand that tattooing (وشم) is not a mark of elegance or beauty.
It does not fall under the category of noble or desirable adornments, especially by Islamic standards.
➋ Tattooing Is Prohibited in Islamic Sharīʿah
According to Islamic law, tattooing is forbidden (ḥarām).
It is rooted in distortion and corruption of the natural form (mutilation of Allah's creation).
Given that Paradise is a pure realm, free from any filth or corruption, such an act cannot occur there.
❖ Conclusion
The statement that:
“Ḥūrīs will tattoo themselves with the blackness of Bilāl (RA)”
—is a lie, a fabricated and baseless story, and contrary to Sharīʿah.
It has no basis in the Qur’ān or authentic ḥadīth, nor is it intellectually acceptable.
