The Prophet ﷺ Will Intercede for His Father and Uncle
Narration:
Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allāh be pleased with both of them) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“I interceded for this group — for my father, my uncle Abū Ṭālib, and for my foster brother, the son of Ḥalīmah Saʿdiyyah — so that they would become like a scattered dust on the Day of Judgement.”
❖ Analysis of the Ḥadīth:
✔ Ibn al-Jawzī states:“This narration is undoubtedly fabricated (mawḍūʿ).”
Reasons for its fabrication:
① The narrator Layth ibn Abī Sulaym is weak.
- Due to his weakness, Manṣūr refrained from narrating from him.
② Yaḥyā ibn al-Mubārak al-Shāmī is unknown (majhūl).
③ Khiṭṭāb is weak.
- Khiṭṭāb refers to: Khiṭṭāb ibn ʿAbd al-Dāʾim al-Arsuwāʾī, who is also unreliable.
④ As for Layth, a detailed assessment of his condition has already been mentioned earlier, affirming his unreliability.
Conclusion:
The narration that the Prophet ﷺ will intercede for his father, uncle Abū Ṭālib, and foster brother is fabricated and unacceptable due to the presence of multiple weak and unknown narrators, especially Layth ibn Abī Sulaym, Yaḥyā ibn al-Mubārak al-Shāmī, and Khiṭṭāb ibn ʿAbd al-Dāʾim.
