✿ Scientific and Quranic Perspective on the Existence of Jinn ✿
In the light of current scientific knowledge, science does not acknowledge the reality of Jinn. However, examining this subject through the lenses of science, common sense, and the Qur'an makes for a fascinating and thought-provoking discussion.
➊ Origin of the Universe:
According to science, the universe began in an extremely hot state and gradually cooled over time. Through this cooling process, water appeared on Earth, leading to the emergence of life via chemical reactions.
➋ Possibility of Thermal-Based Life:
If a form of life based on heat or fire were to exist, it would have emerged prior to terrestrial or aquatic life.
Such a lifeform would have a completely different structure and characteristics from human or cellular life, potentially being energy-based.
This type of life may be termed as “Thermal Life.”
➌ Scientific Consideration of Alternate Life Forms:
Modern science affirms that life arises through chemical processes involving elements, but combustion (burning) is not included in this definition.
However, combustion is itself a chemical process, and the possibility of life originating during such a process cannot be completely ruled out.
Since science has yet to fully unravel the mysteries of cellular life, how can it conclusively reject the possibility of thermal life?
The Qur'an explicitly mentions the creation of Jinn:
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ۔ وَالْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ السَّمُومِ
(Surah Al-Hijr: 15:26–27)
Translation: “And We created man from dry clay of molded mud. And the jinn, We created before from scorching fire.”
The Qur'an states that man was created from clay and Jinn from fire.
This sequence aligns with scientific reasoning—life originating from fire could logically precede life based on clay or water.
At a time when humans had no knowledge of the evolution of life, such a description in the Qur'an is remarkable.
The famous scientist Stephen Hawking stated:
“We believe that life emerged suddenly on Earth, so it is possible that life exists elsewhere in the vast universe.”
✔ He allocated $100 million for the search for alien life.
✔ He remarked that such beings could be far more advanced and powerful than humans, possibly even capable of destroying us like insects.
This statement reflects that modern scientists accept the possibility of alien life, even though its details are not yet fully known.
According to the Qur'an:
✔ Man is the most honored of creation and the vicegerent of Allah.
✔ Jinn or any other creature is inferior to human beings, despite any supernatural qualities they may possess.
✔ Humans have superiority in the physical world, making them the most powerful and authoritative creation in the universe.
Those with liberal and modern ideologies often regard the concept of Jinn as a myth or superstition, but this subject deserves to be viewed in the light of contemporary scientific theories.
If scientists like Stephen Hawking can believe in the existence of alien life, then can such individuals reasonably dismiss the existence of Jinn as mere superstition?
Since the mention of Jinn is present in the Qur'an, outright denial of their existence is baseless and unscientific.
