Can abrogation (naskh) occur in Shariah rulings?
Yes, abrogation has occurred in Shariah rulings, and it is the truth. Within it lies the perfect wisdom of Allah ﷻ. Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah are unanimously agreed upon the proof of abrogation. Both the Qur’an and Hadith establish this reality. Some innovators, however, deny abrogation.
✔ Qadi ʿIyad رحمه الله (544 AH):
“There is consensus of all Muslims on the proof of abrogation, except for a small group of innovators whose disagreement carries no weight, as no one of significance has ever supported it.”
(إكمال المعلم: 2/448)
Conclusion:
Abrogation (naskh) is firmly established in Shariah by the Qur’an, Hadith, and scholarly consensus. Denial of abrogation is an innovation, and only a small group of misguided people rejected it.
