Essential Conditions for Acceptance of Deeds in Islam

❖ Conditions for the Acceptance of Deeds in Islam ❖

Narration and Explanation:

Abu Musa رضي الله عنه reported that a person asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a man who fights out of bravery, another who fights out of tribal zeal, and another who fights for show. He inquired, "Which of these is in the path of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied:

"مَنْ قَاتَلَ لِتَكُونَ كَلِمَةُ اللَّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ"
Translation:
"Whoever fights so that the word of Allah is supreme, he is in the path of Allah."

[Authenticity and Sources: Sahih al-Bukhari: 2810, Sahih Muslim: 1904]

✿ Key Lessons ✿

Fighting merely to display bravery is not considered Jihad.
Fighting out of ostentation or for nationalistic pride renders the act unacceptable as Jihad.
The best person is one who fights solely in the path of Allah, aiming to elevate His word.
  ‣ If a Mujahid lacks sincerity, a clear intention, and the goal of seeking Allah's pleasure, then his participation in battle is not regarded as a significant righteous act.
Sincerity of intention is not only essential in Jihad but in all forms of worship and good deeds.
Therefore, two fundamental conditions must be fulfilled for any deed to be accepted:
  ① Sincere intention (Ikhlas)
② Seeking the pleasure of Allah (Rida’ Allah)
