The Talbiyah (Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk…) is to be stopped after stoning the Jamarah al-‘Aqabah on the Day of Nahr (10th Dhul-Hijjah).
Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) and Usamah bin Zayd (رضي الله عنه) narrated:
لم يزل النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم يلبي حتى رمى جمرة العقبة
“The Prophet ﷺ continued reciting the Talbiyah until he stoned Jamarah al-‘Aqabah.”

Preferred Opinion (Rajih):
Hadith evidence supports Imam Ahmad’s view:
Once the stoning is completed, the pilgrim should shave (Halq) or trim (Taqsir) the hair. At this stage, everything becomes permissible except marital relations.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ prayed:
اللهم اغفر للمحلقين
“O Allah! Forgive those who shave their heads.”
The companions said: “And those who trim?” He ﷺ repeated the prayer three times for those who shave, and then said: وللمقصرين — “and those who trim.”

Ibn ‘Umar (رضي الله عنهما) narrated a similar wording:
اللهم ارحم المحلقين — “O Allah! Have mercy on those who shave.”

Shaving is more virtuous than trimming because the Prophet ﷺ initially prayed exclusively for those who shaved, and only later included those who trimmed.
When to Stop the Talbiyah?

- Imam Ahmad (رحمه الله): Talbiyah stops after completing the stoning of Jamarah al-‘Aqabah.
- Jumhur (majority): Talbiyah stops after throwing the first pebble at Jamarah al-‘Aqabah.
