✿ Parents Should Marry Off Their Daughter Without Delay Upon Finding a Suitable Match ✿
Hadith 1: Do Not Delay in Marrying a Suitable Woman
Arabic Text:
عن عليٍّ رضي الله عنه أن النبيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قال له:
«يَا عَلِيُّ، ثَلَاثٌ لَا تُؤَخِّرْهَا: الصَّلَاةَ إِذَا آتَتْ، وَالْجَنَازَةَ إِذَا حَضَرَتْ، وَالْأَيِّمَ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ لَهَا كُفْؤًا»
Translation:
ʿAlī رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said to him:
“O ʿAlī! There are three matters in which delay is not appropriate: Prayer when its time arrives, funeral when it is present, and the unmarried woman when a suitable match is found for her.”

Arabic Text:
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:
«إِذَا خَطَبَ إِلَيْكُمْ مَنْ تَرْضَوْنَ دِينَهُ وَخُلُقَهُ فَزَوِّجُوهُ، إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوا تَكُنْ فِتْنَةٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ عَرِيضٌ»
Translation:
Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When someone whose religion and character you are pleased with proposes (for your daughter), then marry her to him. If you do not do so, there will be fitnah (trial) on earth and widespread corruption.”

① The Prophet ﷺ explicitly advised not to delay the marriage of a woman when a compatible and suitable suitor is found.
② Delaying marriage due to worldly concerns or cultural hesitations opens the door to trials and societal corruption.
③ Parents are entrusted with the responsibility of timely arranging their daughter’s marriage with someone righteous.
④ Compatibility (kufw) in dīn (religion) and akhlāq (character) is the primary criterion in selecting a spouse.
