Does the Qur’an Falling Require Pouring Water on the Spot?

from the Book "Ahkām wa Masā'il Kitāb o Sunnat ki Roshni Mein" by Shaykh Mubashar Ahmad Rabbānī

❖ Question:

If the Qur’an accidentally falls from the hand, is it necessary to pour water on that place?

✿ Answer:

If the Noble Qur’an falls from one’s hand, the person should seek forgiveness from Allah and repent sincerely.

There is no authentic narration or any Islamic ruling which mandates pouring water on the spot where the Qur’an has fallen.

Thus, it is not a requirement to pour water on that place.

(And Allah knows best.)

✔ Conclusion:

❖ If the Qur’an slips and falls, one should turn to Allah in repentance and humility.
❖ There is no Sharʿī evidence supporting the practice of pouring water on the area.
❖ Therefore, such an act is not part of the religion and should not be considered obligatory.
