Question:
Does shaving (e.g., beard removal) after performing ghusl (ritual bath) invalidate the ghusl or wudū’?
Answer by:
Shaykh Ḥāfiẓ Khidr Ḥayāt (ḥafiẓahullāh)
Shaykh Fahd Anṣārī (ḥafiẓahullāh)
Ruling on Shaving:
- Shaving the beard (daʾdī) is, in itself:
- Ḥarām (prohibited)
- A major sin
- Considered imitation of disbelievers
Effect on Wudū’ or Ghusl:
- Shaving does NOT invalidate:
- Wudū’ (ablution)
- Ghusl (ritual purification)
✔ The ghusl and wudū’ remain valid, though the act of shaving may be sinful on its own.
