Does a nosebleed (نکسیر) during fasting break the fast?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
✔ A nosebleed does not break the fast, even if a large amount of blood flows.
◈ This is because the blood exits the body involuntarily, without the person’s will or control.
◈ In Islamic jurisprudence, acts that occur without intention or control do not nullify fasting, unless they involve eating, drinking, or actions clearly specified in the texts.
❀ Nosebleed during fasting does not invalidate the fast.
❀ The quantity of blood is irrelevant — even if it's excessive, the fast remains valid.
❀ This is the opinion of the scholars and is based on sound principles of Sharī‘ah.
