It is Not Permissible to Please the People While Angering Allah

➊ Narration of ʿĀʾishah (RA):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
«من التمس رضا الله بسخط الناس رضى الله عنه وأرضى عنه الناس ، ومن التمس رضا الناس بسخط الله سخط الله عليه ، وأسخط عليه الناس»
"Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah despite the displeasure of people, Allah will be pleased with him and will also make the people pleased with him. And whoever seeks to please the people while displeasing Allah, Allah will be angry with him and will also make the people angry with him."

➋ Another narration states:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
«من أرضى الله بسخط الناس كفاه الله ومن أسخط الله برضا الناس وكله الله إلى الناس»
"Whoever pleases Allah while displeasing the people, Allah will suffice him. And whoever displeases Allah while seeking the pleasure of the people, Allah will leave him to the people."
