Ninth Doubt: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ leaving only a single volume of a book
Parvez writes:
Shaddad bin Ma'qil asked Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما: What did the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم leave for the Ummah? He replied: He left only this one compiled book.

Similarly, when Muhammad bin Hanfiyah رضی اللہ عنہ was asked, he gave the same answer.
The clear answer is that the Quran in its present form was compiled by Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ and then by Uthman رضی اللہ عنہ. The indication given by Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما and Muhammad bin Hanfiyah رضی اللہ عنہ means that at that time it was compiled between two covers, and indeed the Quran was present in a compiled volume form at that time. When Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما said: "ما ترك" ("did not leave"), it means that nothing compiled other than the Quran was left because during the time of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, all the hadiths were not present in the form of a collection, but the absence of a compiled collection does not mean that the hadiths were not preserved or that they are not authoritative.
